Our
Celebration of Life
I am writing this letter in celebration of our life together.
I cherish the foundation we are building with one another that will guide
our family through life. Although
our family is not a typical one, it is blossoming already into a family of love
and compassion. In this letter I
hope to show a certain amount of the love, respect, and admiration I have for
you.
I never thought I could meet anyone that could show as much love for my
son as you do. My son is my life
and the reason behind every decision I make. Nothing in my life has changed me more
than his birth. Seeing you interact
and choose to take such an active role in his life fills my heart with
warmth. Every time he runs to you
when he falls you worry this hurts me, but nothing could make me happier than
seeing the love between the two of you grow. You care for him; you worry for him,
and miss him when he is with his mother.
Seeing all of those emotions in you, is the reason I know how dedicated
you are to us. And through this I
foresee what amazing mother you will be; not only to Cylx, but to our children
as well.
Our relationship is one more honest and upfront than I have ever
experienced in my life. It is
refreshing how it seems that we can talk about any topic for hours.
It is impossible for us to make one another uncomfortable with anything
we say. We listen to one another
and truly care what the other is saying.
No one is perfect and we have had our bumps along the way but it has
always been the way we have treated one another with respect, apathy, and
concern that makes us so good to each other. We are nearly opposites in so many
facets of style, interests and points of view. However, we come together in the middle
with our morals, and belief in each other. I hope that you always know how much I
respect you for who you are.
Many women marry men in the military. It is a choice they make knowing that
there will come a time when their husband will have to leave his family to honor
a vow he made to his country before he made his vows to his wife.
When you met me you made the choice to be with me when we both thought I
was done; still in the Army, but done deploying. Uncle Sam had told me that I had done
my part; that I had made my sacrifices and that it was time for me to start a
new life. However there came a
need for him to again call on me, to leave and make good on my promise that I
would always be there to keep the fight off our doorstep.
You then had a choice to make; with such a complete change from what you
saw our immediate future to be.
You chose to be with me, to make those sacrifices with me, and to stand
by my side with courage through one of the most difficult things I could ever
imagine any woman to have to deal with.
This dedication to me and to our family will never be over looked. No one will forget that you made that
choice not those around us, our families, or me. It is one of the million reasons I love
you.
The way our love has grown so fast baffles us both.
When we knew each other in high school, we stole quick glances at one
another, both of us oblivious to our interest in each other.
The years we were not in touch we both went through so much that
eventually led us to each other. Both of us agree that if we were to look
back two years ago and to have someone tell us we would be together, we would
probably have that person institutionalized. Now there is so much love between us it
is overflowing into those around us.
Knowing how fast our love has grown for one another gives me such great
anticipation for what lies in our future. I cannot wait for the day we vow our
love to one another in front of our families, or the day we bring our first
child into the world together.
These moments will be a part of who we are forever and I cannot think of
anyone else I would want to share each moment and each memory with more than
you.
I hope that by reading this
letter you might feel how much I put into it. I hope that at least some of the
admiration I have for you shines through; and that you feel every word as if I
were to say it to you while looking into your eyes.
You are my partner and equal half in life.
I wish to share everything I may find in this life with you.
And I can’t wait to celebrate each day with you for the rest of our
lives.
